The Mentor Mathematics Advisor is a computer program to help algebra students with their algebra homework. No, it will not work a problem for you and it will not tell you the answer to your problems. That would not help you learn mathematics. It will tell you line by line whether or not you are correct.
The Mentor Mathematics Advisor helps you do the following:
- Solve equation
- Find equation meeting conditions.
- Expand/Simplify algebraic expression
- Factor algebraic expression
- Evaluate numeric expression
- Evaluate numeric equation
- Graph equalities and inequalities
As you are working these types of problems, the Mentor Mathematics Advisor does just that. It advises you step by step if your work is correct or not. Many times, after a correct step is entered, the program will tell you what operation you have performed. This helps you learn the steps leading to a solution. If you enter an incorrect step, the program advises you that you have made an error. This prevents you from wasting time following an incorrect path. In some cases, the Mentor Mathematics Advisor can even tell you what you did wrong. The Mentor Mathematics Advisor is advising you on your work, not simply giving you an example to follow.

The Mentor Graphing Tool can plot graphs in Cartesian and polar coordinates. Relations do not have to be expressed in functional form as they do for graphing calculators but can be expressed as they are commonly written in text books.
